Website revisions!

Saturday, December 10th, 2005

If you regularly check our website, you’ll notice some big changes overnight. I managed to fluff up the site’s background and layout yesterday. So today, i set about finding another, hopefully clearer theme. I’ve also re-newed those photo links, so you can see images in the posts and pages.

Finally, in what could be classed a successful day (although i didn’t get up till 2pm UK time!), I’ve uploaded my Masters Dissertation for anyone sad enough to want to read it! Actually, I said to my study consultees that I would publish my study on our website and i’ve only just got round to doing it now…

Successful backup!

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

Well yesterday i managed to setup the backup program which helpfully saves a copy of the database tables to either the server or allows you to download one. Obviously, backups are useful in case of a major server breakdown or an A1 mess up (disordenado) on my part when maintaining the site. Indeed, 2 hours later, this is exactly what i did, taking the site offline for an hour or so. Thankfully, no need for a backup to be used.

Haven’t managed to do anything today since we took a tour of the City Centre this morning and i had a spanish lesson this afternoon.

Images in wordpress

Well today i’m settling to the task of re-organising photographs on the server so we can upload wedding photos. Then, having moved them all, i’m guessing i’ll have to re-code the web pages so you can see them all. Having used a simple image plug-in, i’m going to try to install Gallery 2 within my wordpress site. Thats sure to end in disaster, so perhaps i’ll work on backing up everything first!

Set up some new blogs today, to organise our blog content and our experiences in Chile a little better. We anticipate saying quite a lot in the next few months, so i think its best to do this job now.
