Gallery 2

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

We’ll i’m still battling with the installation of Gallery 2 within the Wordpress blogsite. Thanks Gareth, for your assistance with this… So i’m afraid the photographs we desperately want to show you all won’t be available to view either in this site or on a separate gallery website, for sometime yet.

It seems a function called module re-write is not enabled on the server i am using to host the sites, so the modules installed within Gallery 2 can’t review and render the photographs that I upload. These add frames to the photos to be viewed in a consistent form on the blogsite.

Oh well… I’ll email my host company and see what they can do.

Offline…

We’re in the process of moving house…. so we’re online infrequently. Indeed, we won’t be online at all after tonight, until wednesday or thursday.

We’re moving house with the help of three things: muscles, a credit card and a Toyota Yaris. Oh, and of course our national identity card, called a RUT, which you need to do anything here!

Blah…

Well after much protestation and consternation, i’ve uprated Chris R from a non-existant blogger to an amateur blogger…. Merry Christmas!

However, Kez, the blog dog… i’m sorry, but you know your real name is Tesco. And that you’re a dog who struggles to coordinate those little paws. Very photogenic, not very blogo-genic.

Anyway, given that its Christmas Day, i’m just online briefly to say keep watching our site! The site statistics (number of visits, those regularly reading the blogs etc..) are very impressive! We’re delighted that so many people want to stay in touch. And it keeps me entertained and busy managing the content!

Plugin!

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

It really is a round the clock operation this website management stuff. While you’re all tucked up in bed in the UK, I’m still up working on the site.

Have added a lot of plugins tonight. For some fun, you’ll find my ratings at the bottom of the sidebar on various cogent issues (EU summit, WTO trade talks, the weather).

Finally got to see my Skype Button tonight after re-installing Firefox. My previous version wasn’t showing images correctly and i couldn’t configure it otherwise.

And i’ve added a verse of the day from the Bible, in my favourite version, the CEV- also in the sidebar. It’ll update at 3am UK time I guess…

Huge firework display outside tonight. Beautiful. But, as usual, no reason! A concert perhaps? Probably some US import… like Bryan Adams or Bonjovi (Chris.. bet you’re sorry you missed it?!)

Professional bloggers

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

My cousin stated emphatically yesterday, that he was a “professional blogger”. If that were a job, i think i’d agree with him. He’s also a minister of the church. I, however, have no job, and therefore, it could be said that my job is the blog! Anyway, he’s just overhauled his blog. I preferred the earlier one. Sorry Grrrr. Although the pictures out your window are cool.

Was notified tonight, that people are viewing our website through the blog of Ryan and Morag Renfro. Good one guys. Thanks for staying in touch and for the funny account of our wedding. You can view this here. I really like Ryan’s site designs. Their wedding site (see links) is fabulous. Great photos.

Talking of photos, I’ve finally managed to install Gallery 2, but haven’t yet managed to see any of the photos i’ve uploaded! And i haven’t managed to fully integrate the G2 installation with WP yet either, as i’m missing some modules that will display thumbnails in the sidebar (the menus on the right hand side). Trying to figure these things out at the same time as finding a house here in Santiago.

Oh well, heres to blogging eh? Easier than finding a house when there are nothing but flats and when i don’t speak much spanish!
