Rumour has it….

…that there was an election in Scotland? (Not, “…that you have won an election”, Mr Salmond!)

I’m afraid that it was just a rumour for us. We received our voting forms on the day of the elections, like over 10,000 other ex-pat Scots!

We enjoyed reading about the election and about the parties for whom we could vote for! Our particular favourites were as follows:

  • “The Had enough Party”. Well **** off then and don’t waste our time!
  • “The Publican Party- for smoking rooms in pubs”. Clearly this isn’t a single issue party. Timely though, as they introduce the smoking ban.
  • “Scotland against crooked lawyers”. I hope this covers european and international court lawyers, but i don’t suppose they’ll ever hear about it.
  • Scottish Senior Citizens party. Enough said really. Might do well in Cramond or Crieff, but in Edinburgh Centre? I think not.
  • If only Scotland had spent less time adding stupid parties to the register and more time on ensuring the correct operation of the electoral process, we might not be quite so disaffected, apathetic or be facing the prospect of another coalition government.

But we’re delighted to hear that SNP are not governing and can’t find a suitable coalition partner! Indeed, rumour has it, that SNP will soon be rebranded ASFFM, “Alex Salmond for First Minister”, as per our voting form. Catchy don’t you think?
