For Mel & Cam
I discovered a version of the U2 song, One, last week, featuring Mary J Blige and every time i hear it, I think of Mel & Cameron, friends we made in Chile last year during their two year round-the-globe tour. They’ve now returned to their native Australia. They used this U2 song at their wedding. But this is a really incredible version of that song, with free flowing vocals and a more urgent pace.
For those who don’t know about it, the Make Poverty History campaign (culminating in 2005 and the G8 Summit at Gleneagles) has been re-branded as the ONE campaign. Fronted by Bono and other stars (although I note the absence of Bob Geldof who has become rather outspoken), the new website is really great. I particularly liked the rolling quotes at the bottom. This one in particular:
“Poverty is like punishment for a crime you didn’t commit.” - Eli Khamarov
So this link is for you, Mel & Cam (and anyone else interested)!
