Our first wobble…

On sunday afternoon, we experienced our first earthquake. Or rather, a small tremor! So small, indeed, that it didn’t even register on our earthquake watch, so must have been less than 3 on the Richter scale. Buildings that are built for earthquakes wobble more than the ground. So, the higher you are, the greater the oscillation! Four floors up, the wobble moved the light-shades and sent a glass from the drying rack into the sink, but that was it. Nada mas, as they say.

Still (although I suppose that isn’t really appropriate), although not entirely unmoved by it, we weren’t struck by panic… Stirred, rather than shaken might be a better description. I was half-asleep on the sofa when it happened, so I wasn’t planning on moving anywhere quickly.
