I survived my Stag doo!

More photos to follow soon.

Chris Reilly, my best man, organised an excellent weekend away for myself and the boys between the 7th and 9th October. Staying at Strathyre Lodges, on the shores of Loch Lubnaig in the Trossachs, we went to the Perthshire Offroad centre for an afternoon, to drive quads and LandRovers on outrageously steep slopes and on extremely muddy mud.

This was followed by ten-pin bowling, with a difference! I was dressed in a dress… yes, a very pretty number that Chris picked up in a charity shop for £2.95, and a large-size bra (38DD if i remember correctly!). Ironically, the bra was tight to wear and the dress too loose! So the bra was worn on the outside! Very pretty sight! Especially in Stirling city centre, on a saturday night. Having avoided male chat-ups but surviving a range of embarrassing challenges involving local women (out for a pleasant evening meal, I’m sure…), I was then “left behind” at the gate of Strathyre, with a one and a half mile walk home in pitch darkness- a wonderful coup pulled off by my housemate Tim! It turned out to be a beautiful walk home… with a stunning view of the stars of the northern hemisphere, as it was a very clear night!

Anyway, I survived and thanks go to Chris for sparing me from other humiliating (or dangerous) pursuits! Chris did a marvellous job. Thanks a lot man. And to all who came- Santiago, Rob, John, Adrian, Tim, Richard and Ryan. Chris…the picture shows what i actually wrote on our lounge floor before Tim created a bastardised version!

PhDone!

Rachel handed in her thesis on the 4th October and promptly got ill after the stress! Well done girl!! She coped very well in the final few weeks, juggling wedding planning, with wedding dress making, with Doug stressing and with the search for the factors that trigger and suppress AGN (Black Holes) activity!

She’s now back on form and is very relieved to finish. Her viva date was also confirmed as the 1st November… so before the wedding, but not long before it!

Anyway, congratulations to Rachel! If you’ve been meaning to contact her about anything but haven’t because its mid-PhD, then now is your opportunity!
